LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers are getting closer to full strength for the stretch run, activating Adrian Gonzalez from the 60-day disabled list on Friday before their weekend series against the Tigers at Comerica Park.
The first baseman missed nearly 10 weeks with lumbar disc herniation in his back, his second disabled list sting of the season, the first of his career that saw him sidelined for any significant amount of time.
Gonzalez played in nine games on his latest rehab assignment — five with Triple-A Oklahoma City and four with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga — to get ready for his return.
