Dodgers infielder Chase Utley reportedly apologized to Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada shortly after Utley fractured Tejada’s right fibula on a dangerous slide in the seventh inning in Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Saturday.
According to FoxSports.com, Utley sent a text message to veteran Mets third baseman David Wright to relay his apology to Tejada. Tejada was carted off the field after the play, which allowed the Dodgers to score the tying run in an eventual 5-2 win.
The series resumes Monday night at Citi Field tied 1-1.
The Dodgers should know by then whether or not Utley will be available.
