Recently-Traded Dodgers Reliever to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

Former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Yency Almonte is done for the season, as he will undergo surgery for a labrum tear. Almonte played for the Dodgers from 2022-23, but was traded in January along with Michael Busch to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Jackson Ferris and Zyhir Hope.

Almonte has not appeared in a game for the Cubs since May 7. He was initially placed on the injured list May 8, and was transferred to the 60-day IL in late June. He had hoped his shoulder would heal, but instead decided to undergo surgery for the injury, which will cause him to miss the rest of the season.
