Ravin headed to DL with strained groin

PHOENIX -- Reliever Josh Ravin aggravated his strained right groin during a live batting practice session on Friday and is headed to the disabled list.

Ravin last pitched in a game March 13. He made about eight pitches on Friday before feeling discomfort and cutting short the session.

It's the latest setback for Ravin, who came into camp with a solid shot at making the bullpen after a nightmarish 2016 that included strep throat and a broken non-throwing arm in a spring auto accident -- requiring surgery with a 10-inch plate, 11 screws and two pins inserted into his arm -- followed by a 50-game suspension for violating the MLB drug policy and a disabled list stint for right triceps inflammation.
