Preview: Dodgers Tap Alex Wood To Face Pirates In Series Opener

Winners in seven of their past nine games, including a modest two-game winning streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game set Monday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

They do so with Alex Wood on the mound, who makes his previously scheduled turn in the rotation. The Dodgers considered starting Brandon McCarthy, who had his outing rained out on Sunday, but instead placed the right-hander on the disabled list.

Wood is making his fifth start and seventh appearance of the season. The 26-year-old is 2-0 with a 3.28 ERA, 2.43 FIP and 1.10 WHIP, while striking out 27 and walking nine in 24.
