1. Diamondbacks young starters do not step up
There aren’t any spectacular pitching matchup this series with both the Diamondbacks Greinke, and the Dodgers Kershaw on the disabled list. Zack Godley and Patrick Corbin both sport earned run averages over 5.00 and Braden Shipley who made his major league debut earlier this week gave up 6 earned runs in just 5 1/3 innings pitched. While all three of the starting pitchers can be good at times, as Shipley is Arizona’s top prospect, the odds are not in their favor this homestand. With Chase Field being very hitter friendly and a struggling group of Diamondback starting pitchers, this could spell a recipe for disaster for Arizona.
