Joe Panik didn't do much in tonight's game, having taken a walk for Joaquin Arias in the seventh inning after the Dodgers had tied the game in the beginning of that frame (a two-run Alex Guerrero HR, scoring A.J. Ellis, chasing Madison Bumgarner). But with Chris Hatcher loading two runners on the basepaths in the bottom of the ninth (one on a HBP), and J.P. Howell allowing a one-out single to load the bases, all Panik had to do was hit a sacrifice fly to win the game.
There was controversy, in that the single Brandon Belt hit off of Howell would have scored Gregor Blanco from second, had Giants third base coach Roberto Kelly not physically stopped Blanco (thereby interfering with the runner, causing an automatic out).
