The Dodgers may have landed the first punch in the NLDS, but the Padres delivered a knockout blow.
Throughout the season, the Padres prided themselves on their ability to bounce back. On Sunday night, the Padres not only bounced back, but managed to embarrass the Dodgers in a 10-2 victory at Chavez Ravine.
Ahead of Game 1, manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers had to land the “first punch” in the long-awaited brawl, otherwise known as the National League Division Series. After Game 2, Padres manager Mike Shildt took aim at Roberts’ previous comments.
“The series started with a comment about a fight and punching and we’re going to beat them to the punch and all that,” Shildt said in reference to Roberts saying the Dodgers had to land the first punch.
