For a second straight night, the Dodgers found themselves down four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. But this time, there would be no comeback, falling to the Diamondbacks 4-2 on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers had no real answer for Braden Shipley, making just his second major league start. He allowed five hits and a walk in his six innings, but the Dodgers didn’t score against him.
Shipley induced 10 ground ball outs and struck out four in his six scoreless frames to earn his first major league win.
The loss, coupled with the Giants’ win earlier on Saturday, moved the Dodgers to two games back in the National League West, the first day the Dodgers have lost ground in the division since July 7.
