Baseball's off-season begins now.
With the historic conclusion of the 2016 World Series Wednesday night, 139 players officially became free agents this morning including nine Dodgers and six Angels. Another 38 players could join the ranks based on the treatment of options in their contracts.
Included in that group are Dodgers catcher Carlos Ruiz (a club option for $4.5 million in 2017 or a $500,000 buyout) and Angels infielder Yunel Escobar (a club option for $7 million in 2017 or a $1 million buyout).
None of the free agents can sign with new teams until Monday though they can begin negotiations with any team.
