The Padres continued their big spending ways, reportedly agreeing to an 11-year mega deal with superstar third baseman Manny Machado on Sunday morning. As tweeted by ESPN’s Jeff Passan and confirmed by other reporters, the deal is worth $350 million and pays Machado through his age 41 season.
Earlier this month, Machado confirmed his plan to opt out of the final 5 years of his 10 year deal after this coming season. The All-Star also had set a deadline for the Padres to extend an offer that he found suitable, but that deadline passed last week.
