In stunning news out of Arizona, the Diamondbacks have designated Madison Bumgarner for assignment. The former Giant and long-time Dodgers nemesis had one more season and $34 million left on the five year deal he inked with Arizona ahead of the 2020 season.
Things have been a nightmare for MadBum since he left San Francisco. In three-plus seasons with the Dbacks, the left-hander has a 13-12 record with a 5.23 ERA — including a 10.26 ERA this season — in 69 not-so-nice starts.
After he clears waivers, he’ll be released and free to sign with any club for the prorated major league minimum.
