Dodgers minor league pitchers Mitch White and Alex Hermeling combined for a seven-inning no-hitter on Friday night for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga in a 4-0 win over the Stockton Ports in the second game of an eventful doubleheader.
It is the first no-hitter in the 25-year history of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
The two teams were rained out on opening day Thursday, which led to Friday’s doubleheader, and under minor league rules both games of a doubleheader are seven innings instead of the normal nine.
The first game looked to be the newsmaker on Friday, with Brett Graves (four innings) and Joey Wagman (three innings) taking a perfect game into the seventh inning for the Ports, an Athletics affiliate.
