Mike Bolsinger suffers abdominal injury just minutes after being handed Dodgers' No. 5 starting spot

The path has cleared for Mike Bolsinger to become the Dodgers' fifth starter.

The team optioned Zach Lee, one of the two other candidates for the position to minor-league camp on Sunday afternoon. The third option, Brandon Beachy, experienced an onset of inflammation and tendinitis in his surgically repaired right elbow after an unsightly outing on Friday. He won’t resume throwing until Tuesday.

That leaves Bolsinger, a 28-year-old right-hander, as the most likely option. He posted a 3.62 ERA in 21 starts last season.

Bolsinger looked like the favorite from the outset after Brett Anderson re-injured his back earlier this month.
