LOS ANGELES -- The Marlins on Friday announced the hire of Tim Wallach as bench coach, with the now former Dodgers coach rejoining manager Don Mattingly in Miami. Lorenzo Bundy also joined Wallach in the exodus from Los Angeles, and will be the outfield and baserunning coach in Miami.
Wallach, 58, was one of at least nine candidates to interview for the Dodgers' managerial job. But Wallach reportedly wasn't among the finalists asked back for a second interview, a job that ultimately went to Dave Roberts.
Wallach, who managed the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque in 2009-2010, was on the major league coaching staff for the last five seasons, including three years as third base coach and 2014-2015 as bench coach.
