Maeda hit on right leg by liner, suffers bruise

PHOENIX -- Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda was struck on the lower right leg by a Paul Goldschmidt line drive in the sixth inning Tuesday night and had to be helped off the field. Maeda was diagnosed with a lower right leg bruise. X-rays were negative.

With the Dodgers having just taken the lead in the top of the sixth, 5-3, Goldschmidt led off by drilling a 1-2 slider off Maeda's right leg below the knee. Maeda retrieved the ball, threw Goldschmidt out at first base, then collapsed in pain.

On his back and clutching his leg, Maeda was attended to and was helped to his feet.
