ATLANTA -- The Dodgers acquired Manny Machado in July so that he could be a difference maker in October.
Through four postseason games, Machado has been exactly that.
The Dodgers shortstop got the fastball he wanted from Braves reliever Chad Sobotka in the seventh inning of a one-run game Monday evening. He sent it into the first row beyond the left-field bullpen, giving Los Angeles a 6-2 lead.
In the process, Machado put the Dodgers, currently ahead two games to one in the National League Division Series, in prime position to advance to their third straight appearance in the NL Championship Series.
