While this year saw many changes due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, including delaying the start of the 2020-21 international signing period to January of next year, the annual Rule 5 Draft is scheduled to proceed as usual next month.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and all other clubs have until 5 p.m. PT on Friday to protect eligible Minor League players. They are those who were signed at age 19 or older and have played professional baseball for four years.
Also eligible for the Rule 5 Draft are players who were signed at 28 and have played five years.
