LA Dodgers' winning streak snapped at six by Pittsburgh Pirates

PITTSBURGH >> The people of Pittsburgh are better at building bridges than the Dodgers’ front office.

With four starting pitchers on the DL (three since the beginning of the season) and two more (rookies Ross Stripling and Julio Urias) on innings limits this season, the Dodgers have tried to back-fill their rotation until the day — some day in the not-too-distant future, they hope with fingers crossed — when veterans Hyun-Jin Ryu and/or Brandon McCarthy return.

Nick Tepesch was the latest scrap metal they tried to use to build that bridge. It didn’t hold for long. Tepesch gave up four runs in the second inning Friday night and the Dodgers went on to lose 8-6 to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
