LOS ANGELES >> For Josh Fields, maybe less is more.
When the Dodgers acquired the right-handed pitcher from the Houston Astros on Aug. 1, he threw four pitches: a four-seam fastball, a curveball, a slider and a changeup.
“I still have those pitches,” Fields said Sunday, “and they know I have ’em.”
Still, the Dodgers’ catchers, A.J. Ellis and Yasmani Grandal, have called for nothing but fastballs and curves from Fields so far.
The strategy had been working for a while. Only four of the first 18 batters Fields faced before Sunday reached base. None scored.
