After dropping him from their major league roster midway through the 2015 season, the Dodgers decided to give pitcher Brandon Beachy a second chance.
Beachy, 29, signed a one-year contract Wednesday worth $1.5 million. The contract includes an additional $2.75 million in possible incentives, which he can earn in increments for starting up to 30 games in 2016.
Beachy adds right-handed depth to a rotation that currently projects to include only left-handed starters on Opening Day. Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda is expected to formalize a contract with the Dodgers in the coming days.
While he was recovering from a second Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, Beachy signed with the Dodgers in spring training of last year.
