LA Dodgers expected to promote Nick Tepesch for Friday start in Pittsburgh

Right-handed pitcher Nick Tepesch will be promoted from Triple-A to make his Dodgers debut Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Tepesch, 27, will be making his first major league start since September 2014.

The Dodgers only signed Tepesch to a minor-league deal earlier this month. The Texas Rangers released him June 4 after Tepesch exercised an out in his contract. To that point in the season he had a 4.22 ERA in 11 starts for Triple-A Round Rock.

The Dodgers claimed Tepesch two days later and promptly inserted him into the rotation at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Since then he’s gone 3-0 with a 2.
