LA Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen earns his first All-Star nod

LOS ANGELES >> Kenley Jansen had other plans for the All-Star break.

Jansen said he was thinking about fishing near his Redondo Beach home sometime next week or maybe taking his family to Disneyland.

Though the Dodgers’ closer recently became the club’s all-time saves leader and entered Tuesday with 25 saves, the second-most in the major leagues in 2016, he had not been selected to the National League All-Star team during his previous six seasons.

“I’m not getting my hopes up and then getting disappointed again,” Jansen said last week.

It is a sore spot no longer.
