LOS ANGELES -- As Vin Scully enters his final season as the Dodgers' broadcaster, a Los Angeles city councilman wants to make sure the Hall of Fame broadcaster remains a part of the L.A. landscape even beyond his final broadcast.
Councilman Gil Cedillo has proposed a stretch of Elysian Park Avenue near Dodger Stadium be changed to Vin Scully Avenue in honor of the legendary broadcaster. Cedillo's motion will be put to a vote during Friday's city council meeting.
"He is known for his dulcet voice, lyrically, descriptive style and signature introduction to Dodgers games -- 'It's time for Dodgers baseball,'" Cedillo's motion says.
