A veteran impressed in his Dodgers organizational debut on Monday to highlight the minor league action.
Eddie Gamboa is 32 and doesn’t fit the profile for the type of players who usually win this award. But he impressed in his Dodgers debut with four scoreless, hitless innings for Double-A Tulsa on Monday night, walking two and striking out three.
Gamboa saw time in the majors in 2016 with the Rays, but this year with the Rangers was sent outright to the minors on June 29. He refused the minor league assignment and elected free agency, signing a minor league deal with the Dodgers the next day.
