PHILADELPHIA -- Clayton Kershaw will join the Dodgers in Cincinnati and make the next step in his recovery on Saturday.
Kershaw, who is on the 60-day disabled list with a herniated disk and hasn't pitched since June 26, has been throwing off flat ground for more than a week. On Saturday, he will throw a light bullpen session -- his first time pitching on a mound since landing on the DL.
First, Kershaw played long toss. Then, he worked in his repertoire of pitches off flat ground. And now, he's moving to a mound. If Kershaw's bullpen goes well, he'll ramp up the next one and possibly move to a rehab assignment -- if he's ready before the Minor League season ends at the start of September.
