Kenta Maeda looks to end run of short starts in Game 1

CHICAGO >> Kenta Maeda’s last two starts have been his shortest of the season. Neither lasted longer than three innings.

This is the opposite of “peaking at the right time,” that old cliché teams tend to dispatch once they’ve done something in the playoffs, and it could pose a real problem for the Dodgers and their next starting pitcher.

For all the glory of their do-or-die Game 5 win over the Washington Nationals, the Dodgers could use a long start on Saturday in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series. Six different pitchers saw action on Thursday.
