SAN DIEGO -- Dodgers left fielder Matt Kemp exited the game in the fifth inning when Joc Pederson pinch-hit for him. Kemp, who was 2-for-2 with a three-run homer, was likely replaced for defensive purposes.
It didn't appear Kemp had hurt himself during the game and his removal follows a pattern manager Dave Roberts has used since Kemp returned to the club.
Kemp's homer, on an 89 mph fastball off Robbie Erlin, was his second on the year. He also had his fourth straight multi-hit game as he previously had singled and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
