LOS ANGELES >> When Julio Urias was a teenager pitching in Mexico, the Dodgers left each scouting trip with the same question as every organization: would the benign tumor behind his left eye prevent him from succeeding in the major leagues?
The answer ultimately proved to be no, and the Dodgers were rewarded for their million-dollar gamble on the young left-hander. Wednesday, Urias will start Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs. At 20 years and 68 days, he’ll be the youngest pitcher ever to start a playoff game.
Win or lose, Urias’ poise will be a focal point.
