Jesus Liranzo claimed off waivers by Pirates

LOS ANGELES — The tenure of Jesus Liranzo in the Dodgers’ organization lasted all of three days. The right-handed pitcher was claimed off waivers on Thursday by the Pirates, who optioned Liranzo to Double-A Altoona.

The Dodgers acquired Liranzo from the Orioles on Monday in exchange for minor league pitcher Luis Ysla. The plan was for Liranzo to be optioned to Double-A Tulsa, but that was curtailed one day later when he was designated for assignment to make 40-man roster room for pitcher Zach Neal, who was promoted from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
