The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday and placed Jason Heyward on the injured list with a knee contusion.

Additionally, right-handed pitcher Gus Varland was recalled while left-handed pitcher Nick Ramirez was optioned.
Heyward provided an unsettling update on his injury on Thursday — saying it’s something he hasn’t felt before — and heads back to the IL for the second time this season. Fortunately, he didn’t suffer any tears in his knee, but he’ll miss more time with another injury.
