The Dodgers added another player with big-league experience by signing first baseman Ike Davis to a minor-league contract with a non-roster invitation to spring training.
Davis, 29, figures to be injury insurance behind Adrian Gonzalez.
Davis hit 32 home runs and drove in 90 runs for the New York Mets in 2012. Since then, however, he has bounced from the Mets to the Pirates to the A’s to the Rangers to the Yankees, combining to hit .222 with a .681 OPS and 23 home runs in about 900 at-bats scattered over the past four seasons.
Last year, Davis went 3 for 14 in eight games with the Yankees, spending most of the season in Triple-A where he hit .
