Pitchers need love, too. And although Hyun-Jin Ryu didn’t get the win, the way he pitched on Wednesday in San Francisco undoubtedly deserves some recognition.
Ryu tossed a gem, throwing eight innings and only allowing one runner to reach home plate. He retired 22 of the final 24 batters he faced after he allowed a double to Tyler Austin in the first inning. This includes seven 1-2-3 innings.
Opponents came in hitting .171 against the Ryu changeup. The Giants are 0-for-6 against it tonight.

This eight-inning outing is a season high for Dodgers starters this season and a career high for Ryu.
