For the first time since 2009, a pitcher not named Clayton Kershaw will start the first game of the playoffs for the Dodgers.
On Tuesday night, Dave Roberts announced Hyun-Jin Ryu will take the mound on Thursday, with Kershaw getting the nod on Friday.
It was initially thought that Kershaw would get the start in game one, but the two pitchers will swap, assuring they each get an extra day of rest.
Ryu was among one of the best pitchers in baseball during the month of September.
