Hyun-jin Ryu on his game in Dodgers’ win over A’s

LOS ANGELES — Hyun-jin Ryu had just about everything working on Tuesday night, tossing six scoreless innings to lift the Dodgers over the A’s 4-0 in the opener of a two-game set at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers’ left-hander took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and struck out eight in his six frames. What Ryu allowed on the mound — one single and one walk — he matched at the plate, the fifth time in his career he reached base at least twice in a game.

Ryu couldn’t get out of the fourth inning in his first start last Monday in Phoenix but with a full seven days rest — thanks to off days and rain — Ryu was extra sharp against Oakland.
