Dodgers left-handed starter Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder surgery) pitched two scoreless innings for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga in the first outing of his rehabilitation assignment and his first appearance in a regular-season game since 2014.
Ryu gave up one hit and struck out two. A scout indicated his fastball velocity ranged from 83 to 87 mph. Roberts indicated the team clocked him around 86 mph.
Before he tore his labrum, Ryu threw a fastball that averaged 90.6 mph, according to FanGraphs. Roberts expressed his belief the velocity would increase as Ryu built arm strength on this assignment.
