PHOENIX -- Howie Kendrick was a late scratch from the Dodgers lineup on Monday against the Indians, sidelined by right groin soreness that he felt during morning workouts.
Kendrick was set to make his spring game debut at third base this season after working at the position at various times during workouts all camp. It would have been his first game action at third base since July 23, 2006, his rookie season with the Angels.
Both Kendrick, with 1,080 career games at second base, and Chase Utley, with 1,479 games at second, are expected to see time at third base this season, backing up Justin Turner.
