For his 29th birthday last December, Joe Davis received a rare gift from his parents – a framed photograph of him with Vin Scully together as they were in the Dodger Stadium main broadcast booth at the end of last season.
On the photo, Scully inscribed: “To Joe: My prayers for you to have a great career.”
Davis admits to being “an emotional guy” and well aware of the significance of what’s about to happen – his career as the Dodgers’ full-time TV play-by-play man is about to begin, with Monday’s 2017 season opener at Dodger Stadium just hours away.
