SAN FRANCISCO -- Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig returned to the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Giants after missing four of the previous five games with a tight left hamstring. Manager Don Mattingly deemed Puig was healthy and expected to play the entire series in San Francisco.
Still, Triple-A outfielder Chris Heisey was conspicuously present in the Dodgers clubhouse before the game, though the team was yet to announce an official move. Mattingly wouldn't confirm that Heisey's arrival was insurance for the team if Puig had a setback.
"We expect Yasiel to be ready to go tonight and be healthy," Mattingly said before Tuesday's game.
