Good Wood

Alex Wood pitched the game of his life on Wednesday night as the Dodgers defeated the Rockies 2-0. Wood pitched eight shutout innings and only allowed one single in the second inning. The lone hit was a clean single from Kyle Parker. Wood struck out 5, and did not allow a walk. He was in command all night long, mixing off-speed pitches with 90+ heaters against a good hitting lineup. Most impressive was how economical he was. Wood threw just 78 pitches and at one point retired 19 consecutive batters before Don Mattingly removed him after the eighth inning.
