George Genovese, longtime Dodgers and Giants scout, dies at 93

George Genovese, a longtime Southern California area scout for the Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, died Sunday at age 93.

In a career that spanned six decades, Genovese prepared reports on players from Bobby Bonds to Giancarlo Stanton.

In his memoir “A Scout’s Report,” co-authored with Dan Taylor, Genovese listed 44 future major players whom he signed.

Genovese was born and raised on Staten Island, N.Y. According to his memoir, he was the youngest of five brothers and two sisters born to immigrant parents from Naples, Italy.
