Frias equals dubious Dodgers record as Padres cruise to victory

Dodgers relief pitcher Carlos Frias, left, talks with pitching coach Rick Honeycutt during the first inning on Sunday at Dodger Stadium.

LOS ANGELES – This was not Carlos Frias’ first terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. But at least he didn’t have to put on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume after this one.

In a start at Coors Field last September, Frias made history in the worst way, becoming the first pitcher in the modern era (post-1920) to give up 10 hits while recording fewer than three outs in an inning.
