The Los Angeles Dodgers scratched All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman from the Opening Day lineup less than an hour before first pitch in the Tokyo Series due to left rib discomfort.

After the game, Freeman provided an update on his condition.
Freeman said during his last round of batting practice, he felt discomfort in the same area of the ribs he hurt during last year’s postseason run.
However, he added it is much less severe this team around, and said he even wanted to play in Tuesday’s season opener.
