The Los Angeles Dodgers were directly named in Tyler Cyr’s retirement announcement—and not in a good way. Although Cyr has played for a number of organizations, the right-hander only mentioned the Dodgers, who he spent less than a year with, as the reason for his retirement.
In January 2023, Cyr signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers. He was initially assigned to the Triple-A affiliate, Oklahoma City, but earned a big league roster spot in May. After making just two appearances for the Dodgers, he landed on the injured list with a right shoulder injury.
Cyr said he was forced into retirement because of the shoulder injury he sustained during his time with the Dodgers.
