Former Dodgers All-Star Sentenced to More Than 6 Years in Prison: Report

A former Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star outfield has been sentenced to nearly seven years in prison.

Raul Mondesi, who played in Major League Baseball from 1993-05, was reportedly sentenced to prison for embezzlement, according to reports out of the Dominican Republic. He was also fined 30 million pesos (roughly $500,000), according to Listin Diario. Mondesi held office from 2010-16 and was initially sentenced to eight years in 2017.

“Former MLB star Raul Mondesi is sentenced to six years and nine months in prison, and the payment of a fine of 30 million pesos (about US$500,000), for embezzlement of funds during his tenure as mayor of San Cristóbal, DR, in the period 2010-2016,” Hector Gomez reported.
