ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Like Trayce Thompson’s deep fly ball in the second inning Tuesday, the Dodgers’ offense disappeared. Unlike Thompson’s drive, the offense re-appeared.
Thompson’s two-run home run – the sixth in Tropicana Field history to land on the C-ring catwalk high above the field and not come down – was part of a career-high four-RBI game for him as the Dodgers broke from their offensive slump and beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10-5 Tuesday night.
Coming off a homestand during which they hit .167 as a team and managed a total of 12 runs in seven games (just one victory), the Dodgers found the confines of the Rays’ indoor home liberating.
