PITTSBURGH – Clayton Kershaw’s 37-inning scoreless streak ended on his first pitch of the game Friday night. The outcome of the game took much longer to decide.
A walk and two hits off Dodgers reliever Jim Johnson loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 10th inning and Pedro Alvarez ripped a line drive into right field for a walkoff single as the Pittsburgh Pirates handed the Dodgers a 5-4 defeat Friday night at PNC Park.
Pirates leadoff man Gregory Polanco hit Kershaw’s first pitch into the seats for a solo home run, signaling the start of a very uneven outing for Kershaw.
