LOS ANGELES – Over $300 million in salary commitments spread around the major leagues by an overhauled front office extended the Dodgers season by just one game over last year, getting them to the fifth game of a National League Division Series before another early winter set in.
This time, Daniel Murphy will haunt their dreams instead of Matt Adams, Michael Wacha or Matt Carpenter.
Murphy drop-kicked the Dodgers out of the post-season by stealing the tying run when the Dodgers’ defense went to sleep and hitting his third home run of the series to give the New York Mets a 3-2 win in Game 5 of their NLDS Thursday night at Dodger Stadium.
