Final: Dodgers drop series opener against Brewers, 8-6

LOS ANGELES — There have been plenty of reasons for fans to celebrate the Dodgers' bullpen despite a once rocky start.

Dodgers relief pitchers entered Thursday with a National League leading 3.01 ERA.

Closer Kenly Jansen stood one save away from surpassing Eric Gagne on the franchise’s all-time list.

But there was little for them to cheer about on this night when the Dodgers lost to the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-6, dropping to 35-33 overall and a season-high 6.5 games back in the NL West.

With a tie game in the eighth inning, Pedro Baez gave up a two-run home run to Jonathan Villar, who launched it 420 feet, the ball carrying far enough that it bounced off the set of speakers in center field at Dodger Stadium.
