LOS ANGELES — Clayton Kershaw threw a career-high-tying 132 pitches, notched a career-high-tying 15 strikeouts, and stretched the Dodgers’ lead in the National League West to a season-long length of 6 1/2 games.
The Dodgers beat the Giants, 2-1, on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, and secured a series sweep. It was a dominant effort from the Dodgers’ ace, who induced 33 swings-and-misses from San Francisco hitters.
The only other time he had set down 15 batters in one game: June 18, 2014, the night he threw his no-hitter.
The only time a Giant reached base in the first five innings, Buster Posey, Kershaw picked him off immediately, keeping his batters-faced to the minimum.
